Fender / Princeton Reverb [EXPORT 100-240V] / 1974 / Silverface / Amp

This Silverface Fender Princeton Reverb is a ready to gig amp: it was serviced to perform reliably, a very high quality speaker was fitted to enhance the amps performance and it comes with a very nice cover for protection during transport.

While mostly in its original condition the amp has been serviced in a sensible way: a few out-of-spec resistors were replaced, the reverb wires were renewed and the bias was made adjustable inside the chassis. This is an original export amp with adjustable voltage settings, not an imported and modified USA 110V one. Because the footswitch was missing a reissue switch was added to the package. Also the amp was retubed with a mixture of NOS and newer tubes.

The original Oxford “Fender Design” speaker works fine and is included with the sale, but we are quite sure you’ll love the performance of the Celestion Alnico Gold 10” replacement speaker the previous owner fitted. This speaker offers slightly compressed highs, some welcome mids without ever getting muddy or losing detail and a tight low end. It’s also a lot more efficient (at 98dB) than any ceramic 10” speaker on the market. With this speaker on board this amp gained just that extra headroom to make it more usable in a band context. Also the somewhat gentler sound, slight compression and the more controlled transition into overdrive when the volume is turned up works well for many playing styles.

Also worth mentioning is the custom-made Studio Slips cover that is included. This clamshell-style padded soft cover fits like a glove and offers great protection to the amp when in storage or transit while adding almost no weight.
