Fender / Stratocaster / 1959 / Sunburst / Guitar
Here's a bit of a nice rarity, it's not very often you come across this type of transitional '59 Strat - one of the very first rosewood slab board Strats to be made with a mid 59 body date, rare 10 hole single layer pickguard and original tweed case.
What's more this superb example is totally 100% original. Not a single thing has been changed since it left the Fender Fullerton plant in mid 1959. Nothing, down to the very last screw, solder joint and fret. And it's not often you can say that about a 50's Strat...
Lovely 3 tone sunburst with the classic 1959-1960 red fade that you only see during those years making it almost 2 tone in appearance. This one has been played and shows honest play wear, especially on the back which has a fair bit of buckle rash. The front is not too bad at all.
I'm guessing it's been played a lot during it's early life and strung with flats as there is comparatively little wear on the original frets and not much in the way of wear on the beautiful, thick slab fingerboard either.
3 x stunning sounding, perfectly balanced all original black bottom pickups give this one a classic tone and character to die for. It is one of the best we have had which of course explains why it has been played...
Totally original hardware and solder joints with 3 x 1959 pots round up this stunning guitar which is ideally suited for both player or collector. Original hard case is a 1959 tweed and has seen better days. One of the latches has broken away, the pocket is missing and one of the ends has collapsed but at least it is original... just don't go on tour with this case!
As always, plenty of internal pics are available for anyone seriously interested in this rare gem.
