Another all original and stunningly good playing and sounding, pre-CBS slab board Strat. This one is from 1961 and like our 1959 it has been played and loved being played, for a very good reason…
Nice thick slab of rosewood that has not been planed or sanded. All original finish, and electrics including the frets which are in very good condition with a decent amount of meat left. Original solder and all correct hardware.
This one has a lot of character and seems to want to play itself in some ways. All three original pickups are strong and evenly balanced with classic pre-CBS black bottom tone to die for.
It has a fair amount of honest play wear which you just cannot emulate by Custom Shop methods - not even close and it has a great feel to it. Like the 1963 we have, this one also has a good weight of 3.4Kg.
The pickguard has the usual crack by the neck pickup due to shrinkage and the tip has broken off but has been retained and carefully glued back on to the aluminium foil shield under the pickguard so at first glance it is very difficult to tell.
Neck date of 11/61, body date of 6/61, all 3 pots are dated 4th week of 61 and serial number is 60377.
A total classic that just…. looks damm right too don’t you think?
