We don’t normally do refins now but as soon as we saw this one we knew we had to make an exception. It is a  LOVELY original (not a reissue) 1962 Fender Stratocaster with non original hard case that is 100% original and correct apart from an old, late 60’s refin in Ice Blue Metallic and a very good refret.

It is in amazing condition - when was the last time you saw such a perfect original green nitrate guard as this…? It was played a bit up until sometime in the late sixties when the owner decided to have it refinished in a very nice ice blue metallic which was a very cool Fender custom colour introduced around that time. Since the refin it has hardly been played and is in very nice shape. This was recently acquired from the second owner who has had it since 1972.

This is not your usual refin Strat with clobbered together parts, everything is original to this guitar - the body (with nail holes) neck and all the hardware. The pickups sound amazing and the electrics have only been disturbed to take the guard off for the rein. Pots are all original and dated 7th week of 1962, serial number is 90586 and if you hold the neck at the right angle, in the right light you can make out the ’62’ at the end of the beautiful slab board neck. 

Neck looks like it was refinished or oversprayed at the same time as the body. There is a small piece missing from the very tip of the back of the headstock (see pictures), it may be a bit that has snapped off or it may have been born like that, we will probably never know.

All hardware is in great condition and all original and correct. Guitar is a stunning player with the most amazing sounding 1962 pickups and you can see why 1962 was considered one of THE classic years for Stratocasters. Case is a newer Fender re-issue case which looks brand new.

This is NOT just another refin, this is a the real deal that happens to have different paint from when it was made in 1962. This is THE classic Strat year and has that lovely classic C profile neck and wonderful black bottom pickups. It’s a beaut… and I love it!
