Fender / Stratocaster / 1963 / Sunburst / Guitar
How about a super vibey, late 1963 Fender Strat?
This guitar oozes style. The three tone sunburst has faded and been worn away in places giving it that distinctive look that you only get from an early 60s sunburst strat. All the hall-marks of a well used and well loved guitar are here.
The neck has worn wonderfully with the remaining lacquer having faded over time to a nicotine glow. The light coloured maple can be seen on the back of the headstock and where the decal has come off. The newer frets have plenty of life left in them and the fretboard is in good shape, showing some signs of wear.
So often, the nitrate pickguards do not weather well which has unfortunately been the case here. The other plastic parts are in good shape. The hardware is in good condition without being too corroded. The saddles look like they may be replacements though.
Electronically, there have been some minor changes. Unusually, the middle tone pot has been replaced (its usually the volume pot) and there is some evidence of a few solder joints being reflowed. Everything else looks correct.
Sonically, this guitar delivers those wonderful 60’s black bottom Strat tones built on the bedrock of a spry acoustic sound. The neck profile is a nice medium one and it is a nice light weight of 3.33Kg
This is a stunning instrument with a cool vibe that just sounds sensational. Arguably the perfect stratocasters. Book in a visit and try for yourself...
