Fender / Stratocaster / 1964 / Sunburst / Guitar For Sale
Beautiful 1964 Fender Stratocaster in stunning sunburst finish. A real nice example in every way...
Regardless of how you feel about them, the Fender three tone sunburst has a special place in the history of the electric guitar with the pre-CBS period having some of the best. This one is an excellent example. There are a few marks on the front and a few around the edges but none of them detract from the overall look of the guitar, which is just superb.
In fact the top hasn’t seemed to have faded at all and still has that incredibly vibrancy. The neck too has not faded and still is that lovely light maple hue it was when it left the factory in mid 1964.
Plastics and pickguard are also in excellent shape and the pickguard is totally crack free. These nitrate guard are particularly prone to warping and cracking so its always nice to find one that hasn’t.
Have a look at the hardware - it is not very often you see it in this condition, especially the saddles with hardly a mark on them.
Inside everything is 100% original with not a single solder joint touched, all original windings etc and just as you would hope to find things on an original, pre-CBS Strat.
The guitar comes with its rare, correct for 1964, black Tolex case with no logo, which like the guitar, is also in excellent condition.
Sonically we run the gamut from smooth neck to biting bridge that never gets too spikey or harsh. The neck feels very comfortable and the new frets give it reassuring feel. All three, original black bottom pickups (one with date) are strong and evenly balanced with classic pre-CBS black bottom, bell like tonal qualities.
Everything on this guitar is 100% original and its not very often we can say that for a pre-CBS Strat! Frets are perfect with just about zero wear and it does play like a dream.
A very lovely 1964 Stratocaster in this condition, what more do you want? We do not think it will last that long...
