Fender / Stratocaster / 1965 / Sunburst / Guitar
Fender Stratocaster in fetching ‘target burst’ that more than likely left Fullerton in late 1965. mid - late ‘65 dated electronics, pickups and neck and late ‘65 serial number plate with body that has no extra routes and electrics all correct.
Guitar is in good condition, but as you can see it no museum piece with some some forearm wear on the top and dings all over it. The top has faded slightly more than the back but overall it is in pretty decent shape and has the correct case and bridge cover to boot.
Probably one of the last made with the smaller headstock and transitional logo before the larger headstock came to be in December 1965, this one has original frets and nut and is set up to be a damm fine player. It even has a very early ‘ES’ stamp inside the body that became fairly common place inside Strats made a few weeks later.
Check out the video, this one does really sound rather nice with some great grey bottom pickups on original windings. One anomaly is there appears to be an extra ground wire across the cases of the 3 pots (see picture) We were going to remove it but the solder is very neat and looks incredibly old so we left it as it could be some kind of factory warranty repair…? If of course you are really offended by this then we will happily remove it for you at no extra cost.
A very nice working man’s (or woman’s) Strat in just the right condition to not worry about getting a few more dings on it. One that can be taken out and played… and enjoyed.
