Fender / Stratocaster / 1965 / Sunburst / Guitar

Superb, ultra lightweight, late, 1965 Fender Stratocaster that is all original or correct including its hardshell case. It is the 64/5 type sunburst finish too rather than the not quite so attractive ‘target burst’ typical large headstock Strats.

We love this one, it is a joy to play and one of the lightest mid 60’s Strats we have ever had here. It is in great condition with just a few dings here and there and has more in common with a small size headstock Strat, than a large headstock Strat.

Three totally original with no rewinds, grey bottom pickups are beautifully balanced and chime with glass like silkiness. Original factory large frets are in great shape and it will be some time before a re-fret should be considered. There is no rutting on the beautiful dark, fingerboard and the round C shape feels right at home in your hand.

All parts, hardware and electrics are just as this guitar left Fullerton in 1965. Neck date is December 1965, serial number is mid-late 1965 and all pots date to 32nd week of 1965. Not a single solder joint has been touched or disturbed and just take a look at how clean and undisturbed it looks under the hood - that is exactly how a no issues, mid-sixties vintage Strat should look, text book case.

Condition is excellent, it is obviously not mint, it has been carefully played, not abused but it does have the odd ding and some scuffs mainly on the sides - have a look at out gallery page to see what we mean.

Case is in very nice condition too and we are pretty confident this is the case is was originally sold with and has been with the guitar all of its life. Guitar

Altogether an exceptional and totally original transitional Strat that would not be out of place in any collection. Check the pictures out and see for yourselves. Come to out lounge and try it through our new and ever increasing, vintage amp selection…
