Fender / Stratocaster / 1966 / Sunburst / Guitar
This is a superb playing and really great sounding grey bottom pickuped, transitional logo, mid 60’s Strat that sure has a story… It is all original including the case, aside from a refret, a 5 way switch and some touched up solder joints.
To explain how it got it’s nickname and so you know the full story, here is what the previous owner told us (sic):
“Original owner bought it in 67, played it in bands in Detroit area. Around early 70s his then wife comes home to find him bangin the babysitter. Takes the Strat out of the living room to the driveway and smashes it and leaves it there. She thinks its a gonner and they divorce. He glues it back together as you now see it. Plays in bars in Detroit area for another 20 years then throws it in the case under his bed and forgets it. Go’s to a high school reunion yeas later and was asked by an old pal about his band and guitar. Ends up givin the guitar to his old pal and he ( my customer Robert) brings it into my shop and we trade for it. I re-fret it ( my real day job ) and loaned it out to my pal in the Chris Isaak band I used to tech for and a dzn other guys who loved its sound…regardless of looks. Many studio and live gigs it served.”
So there you have it! Little more can be said really. It’s a great guitar at a great price and if you do not mind a few extra ahem, ‘dings’ than normal you will have all the sound and playability of a classic mid 60’s Strat for a bargain price.
You get an original case too and you a guarantee you will have a lot of fun with it…
