Fender / Stratocaster / 1973 / Candy Apple Red / Guitar For Sale
Good condition, 6,5/10, Made in USA, weight 3.50kg, no case, let´s start with the issues: plenty of small dings and dents in the finish along the edges of the body, non original pickguard (modern Fender), replaced bridge pickup (a Fender pickup from 1980) and cover, new switch tip and and non original neck plate since it has been converted from 3-bolt to 4-bolt and the micro-tilt has been removed during the process, has a repair of the tip of the headstock with a laid in round piece of maple (amateur repair with visible finish line), and now we can go to the good stuff and specs:
Great looking original factory Custom Color (there were only a handful of these made in ´73) where the candy apple red finish has been sprayed over a silver base coat for a metallic effect, all original examples of this model/color go for premium prices but this one has some issues which is reflected in the price, the neck is stamped 22DEC72B and J. Torres, the neck pocket has the numbers 23xx72, the neck pickup is stamped 27 2 73, the middle pickup is stamped 27 2 73, the bridge pickup is stamped 21 10 80 and 96, all the pots are dated week 43 of 1972 and the tremolo block has the typical number 010347, square pickup routes with worm route (that has an extra hole for the ground cable drilled right through)
