Fender / Super Champ / 1983 / Blackface / Amp
Here’s a 1983 Fender Super Champ amp. This handwired on tagboard amplifier was designed by Paul Rivera for Fender and is an early example of a twin channel amp with a dedicated high-gain overdrive channel. This is a rare original 230V export version for use in the EU that also carries the at the time optional ElectroVoice Force Ten speaker. This speaker adds a lot of weight to this amp, both physically as in terms of sound. With this heavy-duty 10” speaker, 18W RMS from 2 6V6s (solidstate rectified) and a small cabinet it’s a “wolf in sheeps clothes” kind of amp with enough power for small club gigs.
This amp is in NOS mint condition. It was removed from the showroom of the Dirk Witte store in the early ‘80s because it didn’t sell at the time and put in a storage room. Apart from I imagine some in-store testing it’s unused. It still has its original RCA/Fender tubes that sound great. It works absolutely fine without any issues. Alas the original cover and footswitch are missing.
