This is an STUNNING original late 1952, early 1953 Fender Telecaster, blackguard which has had a body only refin in butterscotch blonde by Clive Brown - the ultimate master expert refinisher in excellent condition and a brilliant player at a reasonable price.
This guitar has the original finish on the neck and has all original parts - the only thing that is not original is the finish on the body and the frets!
Pots date to late 1952 (the one that I can still read a date on at least does), the body and the neck are dated 1-53 and are hand crafted by the master builder at the time - Tadeo Gomez. The guitar was bought from it’s previous French owner who has owned and played this guitar in France for the last 35 years!! It was originally stripped wood when he got it all those years ago and in March this year, he sent it to the best in the business to retore the body to more like what it should be. Clive, as usual, has done a fantastic job, his stamp is in the cavity and unless you examine it with a black light you will never know the body is a refin…
It was re-fretted a few months ago and plays really well now. Both pickups sound nice and strong and the neck has a brilliant feel - medium chunky, not baseball bat like but definitely on the beefy side.
Weight is a nice light 3.3Kg and serial number is 4369. Neck also has some nice, birds eye figuring on the headstock.
Guitar is a fantastic player and has the unmistable Tele bite that you would expect from a ’53 Blackguard. Included is an original re-issue thermometer case that in itself, is a hard to find case.
