Fender / Telecaster / 1953 / Blonde / Guitar

This is an NICE original 1953 Fender Telecaster, blackguard which has had a body only refin in butterscotch blonde by what must be an expert refinisher in excellent condition and a brilliant player at a reasonable price.

This is a very interesting guitar that changed hands for 18k a few years back and after a very carfeful examination I have come to the following conclusion about what I think is original and what is not:

Items I am confident are original include:

Original 1953 original neck, beautiful fairly chunky, classic ’53 Tele profile - one of the best years and no disappointments. May have had very old overspray but blacklights perfectly Has had refret and new nut

Original Kluson Tuners and string tree

Original Decal

Original pickups both neck and bridge

Original ash tray cover with solder blob

Original pick guard

Original bridge plate with serial number

Original knobs, jack cup, jack socket and control plate

Original switch, pots and caps (pots dated 25th week of 1953)

Some screws

Things I am not 100% sure of:

Body looks totally right with two exceptions - it has a routers hump but a small one, is not as pronounced as some as I have seen and I cannot find any of the filled plugs you usually see on the back of the body (2 of them). It has an old label inside the cavity dated 1953 and it has the classic vintage drip marks, is a great weight, 2 piece ash and very resonant. There are nail holes and most are filled with paint or something, if it wasn’t for the two discrepencies earlier pointed out, I would be more confident to say it is correct

Brass saddles possibly may be old replacements

Neck plate is shiney on the back

Some of the screws are not half threaded as you would expect.

That is my considered opinion and you may have a different one but this is how I am selling it and it is to my best of knowledge. I have priced it reasonably due to these issues and you will be getting a BRILLIANT and classic 1953 vintage blackguard at a bargain basement price with all the feel, looks and most importantly SOUND of a 45k guitar…

Guitar is a fantastic player and has the unmistable Tele bite that you would expect from a ’53 Blackguard. Included is a non original hard shell case.
