Fender / Telecaster / 1954 / Blonde / Guitar

This is an NICE original 1954 Fender Telecaster, blackguard which has had a body only refin in butterscotch blonde and a neck overspray in excellent condition and a brilliant player at a reasonable price.

Whoever did the body respray did a fantastic job and has almost perfectly replicated the shade and finish of a late 50’s blackguard that is slightly less butterscotch than the early 50’s ones. I am not sure if it is an old refinish that has worn or a more recent refin that has been expertly reliced but it really does look the part. Original 1954 paint can still be seen in the neck pocket and some of the cavities.

Neck has had a clear lacquer overspray and the original finish can be seen under this over spray. It looks as if the tuners were tightened a bit too much and this has caused some cracking by the bushes which has been repaired a long time ago by the lowwr E (see pics). Fingerboard has been re-fretted with slightly larger frets and because of this, it does play very well.

Serial number is 3228, neck date is 5-54 and body date is visible in the neck pocket but not quite discernible.

Original electrics with the exception of one pot. Bridge pickup is all original as is the neck pickup with the exception of the cover which is slightly younger. All tuners are original ‘no-line’ apart from one slightly later single line, the high E is an original no-line but is a normal type not an end type. Pickguard looks to me to be original and is the same bakerlite type material as the original ones are. At least one of the brass saddles is original 50’s. Rest of hardware including bridge plate, knobs etc are original.

Guitar plays nicely, has a good weight of 3.4Kg and a slightly chunky D shape neck profile. I have priced it reasonably due to these issues and you will be getting a BRILLIANT and classic 1954 vintage blackguard at a bargain basement price with all the feel, looks and most importantly SOUND of a 45k guitar…

Guitar is a good player and has the unmistakable Tele bite that you would expect from a ’54 Blackguard. Included is a non original hard shell case
