Fender / Telecaster / 1954 / Blonde / Guitar For Sale
1954 Fender Telecaster, enough said…
I remember flying out to Munich, Germany just over 10 years ago to purchase this from the original owners family and we are pleased to see this beautiful Blackguard back with us once more...
This guitar is in great condition. Body shows some signs of wear but still looking great approaching its 70th birthday. The lacquer has remarkably kept the light shade that is much closer to the original than what we’ve come to expect. Again there is fade but nothing substantial.
The neck is in great shape too, the lacquer having worn comfortably. The fretboard shows a bit of wear but the original frets have some decent life left in them.
Plastics and hardware are in good condition and are all correct.
Serial number is 2922, neck date is 3-54.
Both pickups are original with original windings. The pot codes read week 33 of 1953. Both correct capacitors are present but the guitar has been rewired to post ‘67 spec so you can use both pickups together. When I bought the guitar it was humming badly however when I opened the control cavity I could see the ground wire was hanging on by a single thread and realised this was the reason so that wire has been re-attached.
Pickups sound just as you would expect a blisteringly good black guard Tele to sound, classic Tele bite. There is a reason, and it is not just for their collectability, why original black guards are so sought after.
The guitar comes with an original 1954 brown gig bag which is original but probably best not to go gigging with!
Truly one of the greats, I do not think this Tele will disappoint anyone out there who tries it out and everyone who has so far, has had a big grin on their face…
