This is one cool 1954 Fender Telecaster SN: 7869 known as “Virginia” having all black guard features with a white guard ! This guitar has a lot of history and lived it’s life in the Bakersfield Ca. area. It was was purchased by original owner from Parlier Music in Bakersfield, Ca. Owned for many recent years by its 1st owners Grandson, Brent Berry, who documented its busy past life. Its beautiful 3-tone Sunburst finish was done by Mosrite Guitars as a Fathers Day gift to him in 1963. Its Maple neck was also refin’d in 1963 so no pencil date & a repro spaghetti logo was added at that time. The headstock also has the deep drop off the nut angle like the earliest Teles. Its got both original pickups including the original “Flat Pole” lead pickup. Its original pots are dated to the 24th week of 1954. Its original parts include its Kluson Tuners, its single layer white pickgard, its Pat. Pend. bridge & its 4-digit back plate. Inside the control cavity is the tape “Virginia” written on it. There is a date scrunched up on the tape looks like 11/08/54 but it’s super hard to see. Grandpa Berry played around town w/some pretty big names w/this bad boy Tele such as Gene Moles (creator of Mosrite Guitars), Red Simpson, Sonny Johnson, Roy Nichols, Bill Woods and Buck Owens ! She weighs in at nice 7 lbs. 6 oz. of fun ! She’s played in beautifully & looks near original if they made that color ‘burst. Fabulous player & killer full sized neck & you win !
