Fender / Telecaster / 1955 / Blonde / Guitar
This is a very nice find, this is a consignment sale for a superb original early 1955 Fender Telecaster, maple neck, complete with original DESIRABLE centre pocket tweed hard case with early 1955 black guard specs in excellent condition and sounds superb.
This is an early 1955 and is pretty much the same as a 1954 black guard exceplt it has an early white guard with the dull back, steel instead of brass saddles and serial number on the neck plate. The wiring is the same as the black guards and nost importantly it has the same, flat pole piece pickup as 1951-1954 black guards have! It even still has the black guard switch tip and 54 sytle knobs.
Everything is original except the tuners, it has had different ones on at some stage, repros are on there now and no extra holes visible with the correct tuners fitted and there are no impression marks from the other tuners.
Everything else, including finish on body and neck, all electrics, hardware, decal, plus all solder are 100% original. Included is the rare and very desirable 1954 centre pocket tweed case - these alone can sell for 3k..!
Neck dates to 5-55, body dates to 5-55 (in the pocket) and the tape in the cavity reads ‘Mary 5-24-55’. Both pots are orignal with original solder but the date codes are obscured.
The weight is an easy, 3.4Kg and the serial number is 8332. Guitar plays superbly well, it set up great and both pickups are strong with classic early 50’s fat bite. The best Tele pickups ever and same sound as the black guards!
