Fender / Telecaster / 1955 / Butterscotch Blonde / Guitar
Previously owned by Danny Gatton’s uncle (apparently!), we have for you a classic piece of Fullerton product, a 1955 Fender Telecaster.
Finished in original classic butterscotch blonde (just like a 1954), more akin to the blackguard finish than the later example where the finish was much paler. There is no sign of any touch up. You will notice the slight enlarged cavity for the neck pickup. There are no other changes.
Neck is in excellent condition. Its been refretted but not refinished. There is plenty of life left in them.
Hardware is in good condition aside from some slight corrosion
Plastics show some signs of wear but nothing too extensive.
Electrically the tone pot is from week 11 of 1955 and the volume is from week 33 of 1966. The wiring has been modified to post-67 specifications so there is no capacitor across the bridge pickup and you have access to both pickups together. The neck pickup looks to have been rewound too.
The guitar comes its correct centre pocket tweed case which in itself is quite the find and correct for late 1954 through 1955 both Stratocaster and Telecaster/Esquire. This by itself is worth a few bob.
Classic tele twang and a wonderfully resonant instrument, there’s a reason these white-guard instruments are so revered in their own right.
Classic instrument forma classic year, what more do you want?
