Fender / Telecaster / 1966 / Candy Apple Red / Guitar

When you come across a 60's custom colour Telecaster it is usually a joyous occasion as there were not very many made. Candy Apple Red was apparently one of Leo's favourite colours and is one of his creations rather than a colour borrowed from the automobile industry. Maybe that's why he had a bit of a soft spot for this colour.

Whatever, there is no doubting it is a striking colour and still looks uber cool today. When you are on stage with a Tele in this colour there is no mistaking you.

This superb example is stunning, it is 100% original except it has had a refret with slightly larger frets and the 60's wiring has been changed so that the neck pickup functions as a proper pickup with a tone control rather then a muffled woof machine. Should you be mad enough to want it changed back it can easily be done by a tech (or by ourselves) at the switch contacts.

Owned for a very long time by a superb and brilliant European session player this guitar is extremely well setup as you can imagine and was one of favourite studio workhorses. He was sad to see it go and I really had to prise this from him!

Nice fat sounding 60's original Tele pickups with lots of bite that do not sound shrill as some can. It has a few small dings and dongs here and there as you can see by the pictures but overall it is a really nice custom colour Tele that has aged well and the CAR finish has not faded too much either. This again is something you do not see all the time.

Gold transition logo is fully intact (also rare) and double line Klusons all work great. Original hard shell case is in good condition too and I am of the belief that it has been with the guitar from the moment it was born in 1966. The tail of the 'd' and the 'er' has broken off the silver bit of the original case logo, but this is usually the case (excuse the pun).

No routes, all original finish on neck and body and no touch ups anywhere.

A very cool piece that just looks so classy don't you think..?
