Fender / Telecaster / 1967 / Olympic White / Guitar

A 1967 near MINT Fender Telecaster in Olympic White, with correct hard case and maple cap neck is a very desirable combination indeed and this example also happens to be a rather splendid player..

1967 must have been a funny year for Fender, not many Strats were made and it’s not exactly bursting at the seams with Teles either so what were they up to? We see plenty of Teles from 1966, 1968 and 1969 etc but relatively fewer from 67 and even fewer Strats from that year too…

This is a stunning, 1967 Fender Telecaster finished in Olympic White rather than see through blonde and would have been a custom colour order at the time. It is all correct with the sole exception of the wiring has been changed from a woof tone circuit to the far more useful modern wiring for the neck pickup. In case you were not aware, up to this point Fender wired their Tele neck pickups straight across a tone capacitor that made the neck pickup very muddy and you could not get rid of it. They shortly afterwards changed this wiring to similar to what they use now, with a variable tone circuit on the neck pickup.

Highly desirable and superb, medium chunky, maple cap neck on this one which really feels great to play. Original frets have some good meat left and there is just a small amount of fingerboard wear at the lower frets but this is hardly noticeable at all.

Both pickups sound superb and as good as any mid 60’s Tele we have had here. Original finish is in excellent condition with just a few very minor dings here and there to keep it from being described as mint. Original case is also in very nice shape and is fully functional.

Superb, light weight of just over 3.3Kg makes this a highly comfortable guitar to play and one that once picked up, you will find difficult to put down…
