Fender / Telecaster Custom Colour / 1967 / Ice Blue Metallic / Guitar

Here's something quite special. This is one of only two transitional Fender Telecasters I have had in the rare Custom Colour Ice Blue Metallic and this is by far one of the cleanest I have encountered....

Purchased recently from it's second owner in the Netherlands, where this guitar has spent it's entire life. You can see by the sticker on the headstock it was originally sold in 1967 by a famous Amsterdam music store who are amazingly, still going to this day. Well done Chaps!

All original and super rare custom colour finish is totally original with no touch ups anywhere. It has faded to a nice olive green colour due to the nitro clearcoat yellowing over the ice blue (blue + yellow = green). The original shade of ice blue metallic can clearly be seen under the guard and under the neck pocket.

Hardware and electrics are original, or at least period correct, with the exception of a very nice refret with slightly larger frets, similar to the size of Fender factory large frets but get this - the original frets are included!! Not often you see that... so you could I guess try to re-install them, if you really wanted to..

The other thing is the switch and wiring have been converted to the more player friendly, modern setup where you can actually get to use the neck pickup tone pot. This required a re jig of the switch wiring and the removal of the tone cap for the neck pickup BUT, this is cap also included in the bag along with the original frets.

This also happens to be a fantastic player with a nice strong and clear tone. In fact out of all the Tele's we have had here over the last few months, this is without a doubt one of our favourites. Good action too on a straight C shape neck and a lovely weight of just 3.3Kg

Neck date is August 1967, pots date to 1966 as you would expect, grey fibre bottom bridge pickup is dated 1967 and serial number is mid - late 1967. There's no doubting the year on this one..

There are a few dings and dongs here and there but nothing to hideous - have a look at the photos. There is a small piece broken from one of the corners of the pickguard and a bit of wear on the transitional logo but in reality, most of the examples I come across in this relatively fragile, custom colour look a lot worse than this beauty does.

As always, internal pics are available to anyone seriously interested.
