Fender / Telecaster + Deluxe Tweed Amp / 1956 / Blonde Tweed / Guitar
It was around the fall of 1956 a Mr William Evans strolled into his local music store near Tulsa Oklahoma and handed out quite a few of his hard earn dollars in exchange for a gleaming brand new, blonde Fender Telecaster electric guitar together with a state of the art Fender Deluxe combination amplifier - items he had been saving for and been coveting for a fair old while.
He cherished these items for years to come, he would not let anyone tamper with them and used them extensively, on stage alongside his brother Chuck Evans on drums in the local bands he had great fun playing in.
How do we know all this? Well it was just purchased from the son of the late Bill Evans last weekend (June 21st 2015) and we are happy to be the first dealers to offer it for sale to the public since it was sold new, way back in 1956..!
This is a sale for 2x items which were bought together and lived together with the same single owner from new - all with matching dates a 1956 Fender Telecaster in blonde with 'Kylon' OHSC and a matching 1956 Fender Tweed deluxe amp with the classic 5E3 circuit and Victoria Luggage Company canvas cover also included is the original lead, strap, polishing cloth, some old strings, ashtry cover, original schematic for amp plus a copy of a picture taken sometime in the 60’s with Bill Evans playing this very guitar, amp and lead onstage.
Guitar is 100% original including the frets and every single screw. It has undisturbed solder joints, all original finish and hardware etc. Aside from some fingerboard wear is in quite excellent condition too. Neck is beautiful, very soft V type and signed XA-7-56 - just one month away from Clapton’s Brownie which is XA-6-56. Body date is 7-56, both pots are 20th week of 1956 and serial number is 14108.
Apart from maybe 2x changed tubes I am pretty certain amp is 100% original too. In fact it took considerable effort to take the back panel off and I do not think it has ever been off before or at least not for some time. Solder on this also appears undisturbed with 1956 or late ’55 pot codes, speaker code of 16th week of 1956 and tube chart letter code of FF which is June of 1956. BTW, amp does sound wonderful - just ask Neil Young. In fact this combination is killer.
Am I going to split this? No I am not. I will only sell as a pair as this is what they deserve. They have lived all their life together and out of respect foe the late Bill Evans I will try to keep them together like this for as long as I can. This is a real piece of collectable history you are buying here.
So, classic years for both the Tele and the Deluxe. 100% original and sounding blooming marvellous - what is there not to like? The price maybe… try me with a near offer and remember it is not every day you see such niceties on sale as this.
