Gallagher / G55 Dreadnought / 2011 / Guitar

Gallagher G55 Dreadnought from 2011. The Gallagher guitar company is, not unlike TFOA, a true family company founded by JW Gallagher in 1965 and currently in the hands of his son Don and grandson Stephen. JW Gallagher, who passed away in 1979, was a true craftsman using the techniques honed while building furniture to create instruments with meticulous attention to detail. Although Gallagher remains somewhat of a "hidden secret", the brand did get it's fair share of well earned attention through the help of legendary flatpicker Doc Watson. For years Doc played a Gallagher G50 model and helped the brand gain some traction in the heavily competitive market of steelstring guitar builders.  These days Gallagher still builds only a limited number of instrument each year to retain the high quality standard the brand has become known for. A small team of builders using the techniques and some of the old equipment JW used back in the day, a great stockpile of high-grade tonewoods and a whole heap of experience and knowledge gathered over the years make each Gallagher guitar something truly special. This G55 from 2011 feels right from the getgo. Using the time-tested pairing of Honduras Mahogany and Adirondack spruce combined with a slightly shorter scale length of 640mm it offers plenty of volume, warmth and richness together with a fantastic "slinky" and effortless playability. Rear-shifted scalloped X-bracings and a rosewood bridgeplate prevent the instrument from sounding to "muddy" and unclear, instead it projects and feels distinctly balanced and clear. The mahogany neck is C-shaped and has been topped with an ebony fingerboard showing tasteful small abalone dot position markers. The condition of this instrument is "Very Good"; There are several dings in the finish of both the body and neck, light overall playwear and some air beneath the finish on the back of the headstock. Includes original hardshell case. ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
