Gibson / 1934 Jumbo / 2020 / Sunburst / Guitar

In 1934 Gibson released the Jumbo, larger than any other guitar Gibson offered at the time. Only in production for two years, these rare guitars quickly became artist favourites, and one of Gibson’s most important acoustic guitars in their illustrious history. This is an excellent example of the attention to detail these limited run reissues can produce, and is an accurate recreation of the iconic original, but at a fraction of the price. The Gibson 1934 Jumbo reissue features a Thermally Aged Adirondack Red Spruce top, Honduras Mahogany back and sides, single ply top and back binding, and scalloped top bracing. The Mahogany neck features a Madagascan Rosewood fretboard and a period correct chunky V profile neck. Couple all that up with a traditional Rosewood rectangle open slot bridge with a bone saddle, bone nut, hot hide glue construction, and a hand applied nitrocellulose finish and you get big, booming lows that sit perfectly in balance with a crystal clear top end. The traditional headstock is adorned with the classic “Gibson” script style logo in Mother of Pearl inlay and vintage style Waverley tuners round out the vibe of this faithful recreation. What makes it super cool for me is the dark sunburst which has a small amber centre – based on the 1934 original. This is a phenomenal sounding guitar, a wonderful all rounder, and a real head turner. The guitar is in excellent condition, and comes in it’s original deluxe Gibson hard case.

Welcome to Glenn's Guitars here on Vintage & Rare. After many years in the industry, and having been fortunate enough to have worked in Hanks and The Acoustic Centre - probably London's two foremost acoustic guitar shops - I decided to do my own thing.

I have a passion for used and vintage acoustic guitars; nearly new second hand guitars because they can represent a bargain compared to the price of a new guitar, older and vintage guitars because they tend to have more character and can often become an investment.

You will notice when viewing my stock list my taste in guitars, as I only sell guitars that I genuinely like - and there are certain brands noticeable by their absence. I am a huge fan of older Gibson, Martin and Guild acoustics, but also more boutique brands such as Lowden and Collings.

I will consider part exchange if it makes your desired guitar a little easier to afford. I also offer a guitar finding service, if there's something specific you're looking for.

If you are happy to buy over the internet, I will send you as many high resolution photos and as much information about the guitar you're interested in as I can. If you can get to me - I'm based in Enfield, only 30 minutes from London Liverpool Street Station - you can always make an appointment with me and come and try some of the guitars out first.

I accept payment by Paypal, bank transfer, cheque and of course cash.
