Gibson Advanced Jumbo 1938

Adirondack Red Spruce Top, East Indian Rosewood Back & Sides

Excellent Condition

“Considered by many to be Gibson’s greatest flattop model because of its tone, clarity, power and balance. It’s immediately understandable why an original 1938 Gibson Advanced Jumbo are coveted by collector’s and savoured by pro musician’s”

The finest vintage Gibson to hold and play is now available for sale. This 1938 Gibson Advanced Jumbo is just incredible - plays like butter, rings out like so many bells and with a clean bill of health recently provided by Gruhn’s.

Gibson only built 300 Advanced Jumbo’s between 1935 and 1940. This model is their ultimate slope shoulder dreadnought, quite an upgrade from their “workingman” Jumbo model.

The Advanced Jumbo features include a slim neck profile for fast playability and 1 11/16” nut width to boot, 25.5” scale length, enlarged 4” sound hole, diamond and arrowhead fingerboard inlay pattern and a slightly tighter waist than the standard Gibson Jumbo of this era.

This guitar is in excellent condition and has been professionally refinished, includes a replacement bridge and pickguard (all appears to be early 1960’s Gibson factory work).

A period correct case is also included in addition to a new Calton Advanced Jumbo Case with same internal and external colorings of period correct case.
