Gibson / Billy Gibbons Pearly Gates 59 Les Paul Aged / 2009 / Guitar For Sale
One of the rarest and most beautiful Reissue 59s that the Gibson Custom Shop has undertaken to produce, Pearly Gate is truly a guitar apart. Billy Gibbons, fabulous guitarist of ZZ Top, has owned Pearly Gate since the end of the 60s and his little name comes from the nickname given to an old car, which the group shared, and which was sold by one of their groupies and friends. The day the latter sends the money from the sale of the car to the members of the group, Gibbons is offered an old original Les Paul from 1959, pays for it, and obviously gives it the name of their old car, such is the connection seemed providential to him. In short, Pearly Gate is one of the most famous original Les Pauls.
It was in 2009 that the Custom Shop began to clone Pearly Gate, and 50 copies will be part of the Aged. This instrument has Tom Murphy’s initials on the top. The Aging is amazing, really credible and this instrument has a tone and a feel truly worthy of vintage. Our instrument is a wonderful Les Paul, on the one hand splendid and having a top with a maple typical of most tops of the late 50s, but above all close to the original Pearly Gate. The guitar that Billy Gibbons owns is not monstrously flamed but has a whole bunch of little waves and veins giving it an obviously unique look. The top of our guitar is truly perfect.
And as the beauty is light, resonant and is above all in like new condition, because previously part of a collection, and complete with all its hangtags and accessories, here is one of the most beautiful and rare instruments we have had in recent Les Pauls…
