Gibson / Byrdland Custom Venetian / 1969 / Guitar
Gibson Byrdland Thinline Electric Archtop was first available in 1955 and is still available today. This was a thin-body short scale version of the L-5CES. In her looks even a bit more luxurious reminding of the Super 400. Features included a thinline 17" Body with luxurious bindings and purfling. Originally the Byrdland featured a carved maple back, 2 Alnico V pickups, ebony fingerboard with block markers, narrow neck in a sunburst or natural finish. The Alnico pickups were replaced with humbucking pickups in 1957 and over time the neck grew a bit wider.
I wondered why this Byrdland plays so easy, but after measuring the nut width, i learned it's one of those with a wider 42.8mm (1 11/16") neck width, much more comfortable for the fingerstyle and jazz players who play their fast tunes on such a guitar as this magnificent and unique Byrdland. A superb looking and sounding vintage Gibson in overall very clean and original condition, serial number #559738, Dating back to 1969, and built to 1950s specs with solid carved flame maple back, carved spruce top, a short scale version of the L-5CES, with 17" wide body, and rarely seen during the 60s rounded/Venetian cutaway, 2 1/4" deep thinline body, 2 Patented Humbucker-pickups, triple-loop tubular tailpiece with "Byrdland" engraved on crosspiece, tortoise grain pickguard, 7 ply top binding, triple bound back, single bound F-holes, ebony fingerboard with block markers and 5 ply binding and pointed end, 597mm (23 1/2") scale length, very not-Gibson-60's-like wide 42.8mm (1 11/16") nut width, flowerpot peghead inlay, 7 ply peghead binding, gold plated parts, sunburst finish, Kluson Sealfast tuners, Excellent condition with no breaks/cracks whatsoever, and Lot's of typical Gibson weatherchecking to add to the mojo, some superficial playwear, refretted once with original specs frets, with the last tip-fret through the binding, original Pot and pot-cans, Electronics, Flamed maple 5-piece neck with nice C-profile, 5ply original pickguard with a bit of weatherchecking/erosion to the surface, fading to the gold, but all in all a very clean guitar in excellent condition with very little wear, comes with original Gibson deluxe Case

The Fellowship Of Acoustics, Netherlands
ABOUT US
I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
