Gibson / Country Western / 1956 / Natural / Guitar For Sale
The Gibson Country-Western model is essentially a SJN (Southern Jumbo, Natural) and was the top of the companies 1950's slope-shoulder jumbo line.
The SJ's had become somewhat fancier by the mid 1950's, gaining , just like this one, a pearl logo and crown headstock ornament, while at the same time a natural top option was added.
The FON on the neck block is clearly visible and dates the guitar to 1956 (starts with the letter V), the first full year this guitar model was produced.
Vintage Kluson Deluxe tuners (true to the originals), in good working order.
The guitar features a multi-bound top and back, bound fingerboard with pearloid double parallelogram inlay, and the new larger tortoise celluloid pickguard introduced at that time.
The guitar has had a neck reset , so the action is spot on. The frets are in very good condition.
Original natural finish.
Spruce top with mahogany back and sides.
There is some playwear on the top (scratches right lower bout) and a small repaired crack at the back (right lower bout)
Original belly up RW bridge. Original maple bridge plate.
Plays great and sounds excellent with a big, warm, resonant tone characteristic of vintage acoustic Gibson Jumbo's from the 50ies.
Comes with its original case with yellow plush interion lining.
Very good condition.
