If you're a fan of SG reissues, this is the one to have. When we bought this guitar, I didn't even know it was part of the limited run made for Guitar Center in 2005/2006. I just thought that it looked and felt really really good, as if Gibson actually took their time with the construction and in the details. But the more I checked it out, the more I liked it- the neck is the thing, of course and is a little thicker than the smaller, '61 reissue SG necks. That's what most guitar players desire, I think- a neck they can actually grab onto. The twin '57 Classics are stout and aggressive, ringing through the resonant, one- piece mahogany body. The nickle hardware and light aging make for a guitar that looks to be an actual '62 from across the room and on this particular piece, the figuring of the fretboard is nothing short of gorgeous. The Grover Rotomatics keep this beast in tune and it was AC/DC all day long up in here when Lee got his hands on this axe. After a while, I just had to make a request for something else- I imagine ten versions of "You Shook Me All Night Long" would have you doing the same thing! Now, somewhere along the way, the original Custom Shop case was ganked in a midnight heist. Good thing the guitar was not in there at the time, but a new SG case protects the guitar perfectly and the COA and a bit of case candy are included in the package. My research tells me that only 500 or so of these guitars were actually produced, so you can appreciate a nice, clean example when it appears and it's actually a lot of guitar for around 2k.
