* Since 2014, Gibson has been using "Hot Hide Glue" with the characteristics of the adhesives used in the 1950s.
Derived from animal proteins, it has the advantage of simplifying maintenance and possible repairs.
<strong>Maintenance</strong>
Nitrocellulose varnish, as on vintage Gibsons, plays a major role in the 'breathing' of the instrument thanks to its porous nature (vibrations are not muffled by the lacquer). However, this varnish is relatively sensitive to contact with the plastics and foams of certain stands, as well as to certain cleaning products that are too detergent.
To avoid damaging your guitar, we recommend Hercules stands whose foams have a specially designed non-abrasive formula; for maintenance, the Gibson Vintage Restoration Kit ensures effective cleaning-polishing without any risks.
