Gorgeous tight curly flame top, and relatively rare Faded Tobacco finish with a darkback. Mint condition R9 from 2006. All the case candy etc. You don’t see many of these around, especially in this condition. Sounds and plays every bit as good as it looks.

The guitar that started the whole vintage guitar market was arguably the original sunburst 1958-1960 Gibson Les Paul Standard, or 'Bursts as they are now more widely known. 1959 is regarded as the magic year when all the stars aligned in terms of specs, craftsmanship and materials used.

Here is a Gibson Custom Shop re-creation of a 1959 spec Les Paul Standard. This particular example dates to 2006 and is in exceptional mint condition. It was imported directly into the UK by the original owner from a US dealer back in 2006, and going by the guitar's condition has resided in a collection and remained virtually unplayed since.

The combination of the faded tobacco burst top and the darkback is one that you don't see very often and is relatively rare amongst these R9 '59 reissues. The bookmatched AAA flame maple top on this one is particularly nice featuring a tight curly flame that has something of a 'Pearly Gates' vibe to it. You could spend hours looking at this thing especially when the light hits it a certain way.

But it's not all about the looks. It plays and sounds just as good thanks to, what many consider, the perfect '59 neck profile, the resonance of the mahogany body and neck construction and maple top, combined with a pair of Burstbucker 1 and 2 pick-ups. The tone and playability is everything you'd expect from a top quality Gibson Custom Shop reissue of this legendary guitar. You could go for a bite to eat and this one would still be singing...

You don't see a lot of the come up for sale with this combination of a faded tobacco burst finish with a darkback, and certainly not many, if any, in mint condition.

Comes with the original brown 5 latch Lifton reissue case (Gibson appeared to do a run of these around 2006/7 on certain R9's), the COA, all of the hang tags and case candy, and the original cloth covered lead.
