Gibson / Dove / 1965 / Natural / Guitar

This is a 1965 Gibson Dove in amazing condition, exceptional in many ways. First Gibson Dove of this early era are very rare, but finding on in such a fine condition is like finding a needle in a Haystack. It features a solid spruce top with solid Flamed Maple back and sides, Honduras mahogany neck with bound Brazilian rosewood fretboard. The combination of these specs provide the Dove with that typical matured woody tone vintage Gibson acoustics are sought for. The matured spruce top provides a rich rounded tone with beautiful shimmering highs, balanced overall, maple somehow adds refinement to the tone of the Dove, especially matured maple brings out a tone in that is ultimo special, breathtakingly woody and intense as you would hope and expect from a 48 year old guitar! This 'Dove' will most certainly inspire anyone who plays it and experience that unique and typical Dove character with a inspiring warm & and intense woody voice. First released in 1962 this square shoulder dreadnought from 65 is still original specs, with the typical tuneomatic bridge inlaid into a rosewood bridge with dove-shaped pearl inlays on bridge ends, Typical Pearl Dove inlaid pickguard, nice detail to be mentioned - until 1966 they were fully inlaid by hand - a hell of a Job, but after 1965 they were made by a pantograph machine- Other features include multiple bound top and back, bound rosewood fingerboard with double parallelogram inlays, crown peghead inlay, original gold tuners and bridge although most gold worn of over the years, with rare natural finish. At the time one of two flagships with the J-200 at its side. Featuring a 645mm (25.4”) scale length, and still with the early sixties wide neck of 42.5mm ( 1 11/16") nut width. The neck is easy and fast but not small like the post mid 65 are. Like i stated, the guitar is exceptional, especially where the condition is regarded. except for a bit of strange original finish-spot, a whitened nut, and refreshed nylon saddles, (3 of the original saddles are still with the guitar), and the usual weatherchecking you see in every old Gibson, this is the guitar to have if you are committed player or collector, with the much sought after Natural matured finish that gets more and more beautiful over the years.. The action is very comfortable and low, there is a bit of capo wear on the back, and some small dents and scratches, but it's superficial. This 48 year old is simply exceptionally clean. The guitar has been professionally set-up by our shop and needs no attention. A very resonant and matured instrument with excellent projection. With later case.            Basic specs                 Serial: 252260 (early 1965) Back/sides:  Solid flamed maple Top Wood: Solid Spruce Fingerboard:  Bound rosewood Neck Wood:  Mahogany Body Binding: cream Fingerboard Binding: cream Headstock Bindings: none Fingerboard Inlay: Split Diamonds Soundhole inlay: Multiple Bridge: Rosewood with inlays Headstyle:  Gibson Headstock Venneer:  Black Pickup: none (never had) Purfling: multiple layer Back Strip: none Tuners: Original Grover  Body Size: D Square should Finish: Nitro cellulose Scale: 645mm (25.4") Nut Width: 42.5mm (1 11/16")  String Spacing: 53mm (2 1/8") Width at Lower bout: 405mm (16") Depth at Endpin: 125mm (4.92")           Need more information Call us on 0031523-232205, or send a message. ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
