Gibson / ES-120 T / 1964 / Sunburst / Guitar
We would often overlook these guitars as far to commonly, they are quite beaten up, in poor condition, have cracked pickguards and bits replaced, necks reset etc but when we cast our gaze over this beautiful example, it was just so nice that we found ourselves difficult to avoid temptation, so here it is..
A 1964 Gibson ES-120T in remarkable, near MINT condition, all original with the exception of the strap button on the neck heel and with it’s classic 1964 neck profile it is by far one of the nicest ones we have ever played with a great low action and room to go down more if needs be.
Have a look at the pics, I think you will struggle to find a cleaner one anywhere. There is hardly a mark on it anywhere, just a few minor dings here and there. Even the hardware is in astounding shape - the pickguard has no cracks, the tuners have hardly any corrosion and the plastics are all intact and near perfect.
What’s it like to play? Well with the favoured ‘64 neck profile it feels of course very comfortable, it has the wider 43mm nut width and the frets show hardly any signs of use at all. The action is nice and low with no buzzing.
The pickup, whilst no zebra PAF, has a charm all of its own and with the hollow body adding to the flavour it is sort of like a cross between a Gretsch and a Strat… if you can imagine that!
Without a doubt, the best example of one of these, guitars from just the right year and at the price they go for, it represents stunning value for money..
