Gibson / ES-120T / 1965 / Cherry Sunburst / Guitar
The ES-120T was marketed as a student model when introduced by Gibson in 1962. Its electronics, including a single-coil similar to the pickup used on Gibson's Melody Makers, were entirely mounted on the pickguard to speed up assembly at the factory. The thinline archtop construction, amplified through the bright singlecoil, gives this guitar a distinctive character that is very well suited for strumming chords.
This 1965 guitar is in excellent condition. It’s in almost 100% original condition, the only alteration being an added second strap button on the heel. The pickguard has a single small tear but is still very solid. The cherry sunburst finish looks very vibrant and shows fine checking from age all over. No headstock damage or repairs whatsoever. The frets are original and still perfectly usable. The neck shape is very comfortable, not overly wide at the nut and quite full and rounded.
Currently this ES-120T is setup with D’Addario ECG26 .013-.056 flatwound strings but this guitar will also work fine with a lighter gauge or with roundwounds.
