Gibson / ES-125TCD / 1960 / Cherry Sunburst Finish / Guitar
This is a very early & quite rare version of Gibson’s new ES-125TCD which replaced the older 50’s ES-225 models. Its introduction year was 1960 & was offered in a Tobacco’burst or this lovely nicely faded Cherry’burst finish. Its 2 black P-90 pickups are sensational & have balls to the walls clarity in which George Thorogood got his famous “Bad to the Bone” rockin-boogie tone from. Its dot inlaid unbound rosewood neck is super wide & flat like a killer period 335. She still sports her original Tortoise’gard that finish her off so well. From its 3-in-line Kluson tuners to its trapeze tailpiece to its chrome capped brown knobs, she’s 100% original. What makes this one so rare & desirable is that its a Pre-Serial #’d ES-125TCD made prior to mid-1960 when Gibson started stamping its headstocks on every guitar from that time on. She’s got an “R” date code for 1960 & is the earliest example produced we have ever come accross in stellar shape. She’s absolutely near mint & comes in a nice generic hard case.
