Gibson / ES-175 D / 1953 / Sunburst / Guitar
This is a nice example of the RARE double pickup Gibson ES-175D made in 1953 complete with original Lifton brown case this one is reasonably priced because it has had the back of the neck oversprayed in black (a long time ago), it has been re-fretted, tuners have been changed and there is a slightly oversized washer on the jack socket. It plays well, sounds fantastic and is a good, vintage sunburst example at a reasonable price!
Please have a good look at the photos you will see for yourself the excellent condition this guitar is in. There are a few marks here and the usual vintage checking you would expect to see.
Included is a nice, original Lifton brown/reddish hardshell case that does have a few marks on the outside but is still good condition and although a couple of the feet are missing from the underside it is still structually sound.
Very rare model too - most of the ES-175’s from 1953 were single pickup jobbies so it s quite cool when you come across and early double like this.
If you do want to play it I can assure you it will not disappoint. It has a nice low action with plenty of life left on the frets. It is fitted with medium guage flat wound strings and judging by the lack of fret wear this strings like this have been on it for most of it’s life. All P-90’s are nicely balanced with exceptional clarity and bite. Good for jazz as well as rock etc. All hardware witht he exception of the tuners and frets are original and all electrics are original.
