Gibson / ES-247 / 1979 / Sunburst / Guitar For Sale
Exceptionally clean 1979 Gibson ES-347 in Sunburst finish, all original and in excellent+ condition. Short-lived and very versatile deluxe-version of an Gibson ES-335, more like a ES-355 with its ebony fingerboard, MOP-Inlays and the multibound Custom headstock. There is some very minor play-wear but no weather checking, no cracks, damages or any other hidden repairs. The guitar has a factory built-in coil-tap which gives the player an additional choice of some nice singlecoil sounds. The guitar actually sounds really really good and the coil-tap function is 100% usable and sounds great - not thin but transparent and more clear which works great with overdriven sounds! Including it's original case.
Finish: Original sunburst finish, nitrocellulose type.
Materials: Solid Honduras mahogany neck; arched maple top back, and sides; solid ebony fingerboard.
Hardware: 100% original gold hardware includes twin Gibson humbucking pickups (Dirty Fingers, or 'Sustain Sisters') with gold covers; adjustable tune-o-matic bridge; beveled b/w/b/w/b pickguard with gold support bracket; 3 way pickup selector switch; coil tap switch; TP-6 adjustable stop tailpiece with fine tuners; Gibson Deluxe tulip key tuners; solid brass nut.
Notes: Built in small numbers between 1978 and 1993, the ES-347TD is one of the scarcest and most versatile of Gibson's thinline guitars. An upgraded ES-335, the 347 shares the center-block construction for enhanced sustain and feedback resistance. Like the 345 and 55, the 347 has upmarket features like the solid ebony fingerboard, all-gold hardware and a multi-bound headstock.
But what sets the ES-347 apart is its innovative electronic design. The pickups contain ceramic magnets for higher output, and are coil tapped, for both humbucking and single-coil operation. Used in concert with the 3 way pickup selector, the coil tap switch allows the player to choose among an exceptional variety of tonal colors.
