Gibson / ES-330 TD / 1959 / Sunburst / Guitar

Why is the inside of this guitar painted red? We'll get to that. It's a bone stock, all original, no issue (except the red paint which we'll get to) 1959 big ol' neck ES-330. Plays great, sounds great and won't break the bank. It has, like most 330's, an added strap button at the heel-they didn't come with a second strap button-probably an edict from the bean counters at Gibson to save thirty five cents per guitar. Original Gibson badged case. So, what's the deal with the red paint. It's factory-the factory order number and model name are on top of the red, not under it. But why paint the inside of a 330 red? Here's what I could learn about that--Apparently, when a guitar was used for the brochure, it had to be photographed a certain way and the unfinished wood would reflect the light and look odd. The red paint was a more pleasing tone-remember this was black and white-so they painted the inside red before the guitar was assembled and put it aside for photo shoots. I'll put up a black and white photo so you can see just how pleasing it is.
