Gibson / ES-330 TD / 1968 / Sparkling Burgundy / Guitar
This is a NICE and nearly all original 1968 vintage Gibson deep, factory original SPARKLING BURGUNDY ES-330 with original black/yellow lined hard shell case. It is probably the finest example of this rare finish ES-330 we have come across - there is no greening or brown oxidation which normally happens when this delicate finish encounters sweat and hardly any dings or scratches at all, just some mild checking here and there.
With the exception of the two capacitors that someone upgraded to orange drop caps (easily reversed) the guitar is 100% original.
It is very well set up with a good action and is very nice to play, in fact have a look at the video, the demonstrator says it is the best one he has played! Both original P-90 pickups are nice and strong too. Hardware is all original and it has very little wear.
Like most of these sparkling burgundy ES-330’s this one has a little ‘2’ above the serial number denoting a factory second. I guess Gibson had a few problems getting this finish right which would explain why so many are seconds… Finish is still strong and very deep just as it left the factory, original frets are in superb shape and nut width is 41mm.
Rare to see an unfaded one in such deep, almost claret like original burgundy red.
Serial number dates to 1968 and all pot codes I can read date to 1968 too.
There are no breaks, no touch ups - just the way everyone likes a classic 1968 Gibson ES with a one piece neck and a cool player vibe.
