Gibson / ES-335 / 1958 / Sunburst / Guitar

**HOLD**In the beginning, there was only the ES-335 (no 345s or 355s) and it was different back then. For one thing, for the first few months, the neck wasn't bound. And the top was thinner. And the neck angle was so shallow that it required a special low profile ABR-1. All of the original low profile bridges collapsed and Gibson offered shaved, standard ABR-1's as replacements which this has. All these things would change eventually but this guitar shows all the early attributes and it's in beautiful condition with just the slightest bit of cracking around the jack. This is really typical of 58's because of the thin top.  Stickered, unopened PAFs, of course, which read 8.41K and 7.97K. Tuners are patent applied for Klusons as they should be and has never had other tuners on it. It is an original stoptail and never had another tailpiece.  The guitar plays beautifully and sounds awesome. Big fat neck that measures 1.70" at the nut and .88" at the first fret. By the 12th fret, the depth is a staggering 1.04".  This is one of the first 335s made and is one of the best I've seen from this era before the binding. This is a guitar for the collector-especially the collector who plays his investments because it's a killer player and a killer looker. Any dot neck in this condition is going to be tough to find but an unbound 58 that plays this well and sounds this good is an investment of a very high caliber. Original brown Lifton case.
