Gibson / ES-335 / 1961 / Sunburst / Guitar

Players, listen up. You always wanted a 58 or a 59 ES-335 dot neck with a big fat neck but who gigs with a $30,000 guitar? Rich rock stars, that's who and you aren't quite there are you? The reissues are not even close no matter what you tell yourself and they aren't cheap either. You could find a 60 or 61 for under $20,000 but then you're stuck with that flat thin neck. You could buy a 63 or 64 with a big neck but then it isn't a dot and it doesn't have PAFs either. Or you could buy this. This is an early 61 that had a neck break. A well known luthier in Ontario made a new neck out of quartersawn old growth mahogany using a 58-59 profile. And that's not all...he used the original Brazilian fingerboard and dot markers, the original bindings and the original truss rod. This hand made neck is probably better made than the original. It is a Bigsby"Custom Made" configuration set up with a vintage correct lightweight stoptail. Pickups are the original sealed PAFs. No wire nickel ABR-1 with original saddles, all original plastic, original harness. In fact everything is absolutely original or vintage correct except for the tuners which are repro Klusons. You want a set of 61 tuners? We could do that. Me? I'd put on a set of single ring Klusons, an amber switch tip, bonnet knobs and an amber switch tip and tell everyone its a 59. You could fool me. Oh, and it sounds glorious.
