Gibson / ES-335 / 1964 / Red / Guitar
This is a late 64 that has all those good 64 features and a few early 65 features. Of course it has the full width nut and that 64 medium chunky profile) and it has a pair of factory sealed nickel patent number pickups and a very unusual and interesting Brazilian board. All the good stuff. It has its original tuners-they are double line Klusons which are correct for late 64. It has never had other tuners. It probably came from the factory with a stoptail and the Maestro Vibrola was added later (it's chrome). Had it been a factory Maestro, it would have had a "Custom Made" plate and the two little holes from the brads that hold it in place. I've set it up as a stoptail. The Maestro is in the case. Condition is excellent probably a 9.0-just a few minor dings and very slight buckle rash. I don't think it was played much-it was stored for decades and shows only minor fret wear. The nickel is pretty tarnished from sitting for so long untouched.Finish is vibrant red-no browning or fade and no checking at all. All parts are original except the stoptail and studs. The stop is a repro, the studs are the real deal. The case is a Gibson badged black with marigold interior in nice shape. This guitar is priced $2000 below the usual retail for one of these just because I don't like Maestro Vibrolas on a 335. That's $1000 of for each hole in the top. Don't like the holes? Put the Maestro back on.
