Check out this 1974 Gibson ES-335 TD in Walnut finish, in an amazing condition and completely original! You don’t find a 40 year old 335 like this every day, and the sound couldn’t be less than expected, either. We’ve compared this to various reissues (even Nashville Custom Shops) and honestly, it blows them all away. We reckon the stock Patent No. pickups have a lot to do with this, since they distribute tone very nicely as you open the tone and volume knobs... great response. This is rarely happens with today’s 335’s: we usually play “all controls fully open”, because differences are hard to tell. But this is not the case, so that alone is one good reason to consider this.
Its walnut finish (not availiable since the early 80’s) and spectacular grain makes this a great keeper. In amn excellent condition, being truly a collector’s item (has only been refretted), great rich tone with a very natural touch to it, and not sounding as electric like modern-era 335’s. This is a very “enjoyable” investment, for a range of musicans that vary from jazzmen to rockers.
