This is something you really do not come across every day… This is an RARE and totally STUNNING Gibson ES-335 Memphis 63 block reissue that was sent to Historic Makeovers for their $4k+ RDS package that includes much work to make it very close to a real 1963 ES-335 including a Brazillian rosewood fingerboard - it is one hell of a guitar and is a great player too.
Historic Makeovers are well known for their exceptional work with Les Paul R9’s etc and it is rare to come across a 335 that has been done by them. That work cost just over $4,000 alone and includes a refinish with analine dyes and nitro celloulouse. Authentic fading and light distressing. Serial number (which is a 1963 serial number) stamped with correct 50’s typeface. Neck shaped to correct C shape with roll off at binding. Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard with 50s style Cellulose Nitrate Inlays 50s style Truss Rod (no sheathing) Nylon nut Refret Hot hide glue reassembly.
It also has the more recent re-issue ES-335 case with the black covering and the yellow interior. Case is in good condition but does have some tolex rubbed off from the bottom side.
Guitar plays superbly well and I am sorely tempted to keep this as it is just so nice - I have a cherry red, genuine 1963 ES-335 here at the moment and I can assure you this compares VERY well with the original and is a lot better than a new one...
This is a really nice ES-335 and if you cannot stretch the £15,000+ to buy a good 1963 vintage ES-335 then this will be your next best bet.
