Gibson / ES-335 TD / 1959 / Sunburst / Guitar

PAF pickups, mahogany and maple, the recipe for success? Well this original factory stop tail 1959 Gibson ES-335 TD is surely testament to that and even has a nice mild flame top to boot... No wonder they call these the 'Burst Killer'.

This is a fantastic example. The maple on the top has a subtle flame which combined with the vibrant three-tone sunburst makes for an attractive prospect. Its been well looked after but is defiantly not a closet queen - it has been played and for a very good reason.

There are no breaks or repairs and the well respected dealer who sold this to the last customer thought the neck was just worn however, we suspect there has been a light, clear overspray on the back of the classic '59 profile, medium thick neck.

None of this detracts from this sublime instrument. The aforementioned classic ‘59 carve neck is as comfortable as you’d expect and has a smooth feel to it despite the noticeable wear. Replacement tuners have been fitted as the originals probably shrunk but no extra holes have bene involved.

Internally, all is correct, unaltered and includes a nice pair of classic, un opened and unmolested PAF pickups with health readings in the low 8k ranges. Externally all is also correct with original or correct hardware and plastics aside from the four screws on the neck pickup ring which are slot heads.

This guitar comes with 4 latch Lifton brown and pink hard case which like the guitar, is in excellent but used condition.

It is a superb player on its newer frets and nut. Whoever did the refret did a really nice job and if you are looking for a player you will not be disappointed.

Unplugged there is plenty of volume with a full tone that you won’t want to put down. Plugged in this fullness translates into a wonderful sustain and the PAF pickups that compliment these fundamental attributes.

There is a reason we seek out guitars from specific years as more often than not these guitars hold a certain magic that cannot be replicated. This 1959 Gibson ES-335 is juts that kind of guitar. Looks stunning and plays so wonderfully with a tone that’s to die for. What more do you want?
