Gibson / ES-335 TD / 1963 / Cherry Red / Guitar
This is a VERY NICE vintage original 1963 Gibson ES-335, original stop tail finished in desirable original cherry red with all original electrics. pickups etc that is a total players bargain because of a few issues.
It really is a great player and you can see by the condition it has been played because of this fact, it has not been left idle in it’s case for any length of time. Cherry red finish is original as is most of the hardware and it even has an original Gibson ES series case from the mid 70’s
So what gives?
It once had a Bigsby installed which has left some filled holes by the strap button and two on the top all of which have been filled. It has had a headstock repair which has knocked out part of the ‘G’ on the logo so now it is sporting a ‘Cibson’ logo! You can clearly see the headstock repair on the back but the front is not too bad. The neck has been reglued for some reason, the bridge is a later replacement as are the tuners which are later Gibson Deluxe and it is missing one pickup cover. I think that is about it.
It is all original finish (apart from around the headstock repair of course), original pots, pickups that are stunning matched pair and original frets with little wear and little wear on the lovely fingerboard. Guitar has just been setup and playes very, very well to say the least.
As you can see in the photos, it has had it’s fair share of dings and dongs and has been played - it is no museam piece! It does deserve to be played though and there are no issues at all in that respect...
It has the classic slimmer 1963 neck profile that the re-issues try to emulate and just plays beautifully - I find it difficult to put down. I am sure the new owner will not be disappointed especially at this rather cool price.
It seems no-one can sell a ’63 ES-335 in cherry these days without mentioning the word Clapton and Cream. So there you go, I just have.
