Gibson / ES-335 TD / 1963 / Cherry Sunburst / Guitar
This is a VERY NICE vintage original 1963 Gibson ES-335, original stop tail, never any Bigsby, finished in desirable cherry red with original hard case that is a total bargain because it has had a headstock/neck repair.
Everything is all original apart from a refret which was a most excellent job. It plays beautifully, sounds like cream with it’s all original, unmolested PAT number PAF pickups. All other hardware is original as are all the electrics with undisturbed solder joints.
As you can see in the photos, at some stage in it’s life it suffered a headstock crack or break it has been professionally repaired, extremely well and I will guarantee it is stable, no movement and completely solid. In fact like a lot of goof repairs it is probably more solid than the original wood! Finish on the guitar is all original cherry red apart from the touch up at the back of the neck for the repair (see pictures). Body is all original finish as is the whole of the rest of the neck.
It has the classic 1963 neck profile that the re-issues try to emulate and just plays beautifully - I find it difficult to put down. I am sure the new owner will not be disappointed especially at this rather cool price.
There has never been any other tailpiece, Bigsby or similair on this guitar and I can assure you it is a good one with the true vintage vibe. Only other issue is part of the skirt on one of the knobs is broken.
It seems no-one can sell a ’63 ES-335 in cherry these days without mentioning the word Clapton and Cream. So there you go, I just have.
