This is a nicely priced original 1961 dot neck Gibson ES-335 TD with 2x PAF’s + Lifton black ES series case that was made in 1961 and has been the personal guitar of a top LA session musician for the past 17 years and as you can imagine, is truely stunning in just about every way…
Whay is it so reasonably priced..? Well there is an invisible tiny hairline headstock fracture that had had the best repair job I have ever seen. You would never know it was there unless I either told you, or you used a UV lamp to illuminate the back of the headstock. I have tried to photograph this but it is invisible under normal light (see pictures). It did not go all the way through and whoever did the repair is a wizard!
Please have a good look at the photos you will see for yourself the cool, slightly played condition this guitar is in. Pictures will describe it better than words can but as you can see there are a few minor dings here and there but nothing serious at all, it has been well cared for and there are no finish issues, no touch ups, it is original factory stop tail and has never had a Bigsby ot any other tailpiece on it.
Case is structually sound, interior is very nice with the Lifton logo inside and is an early black Lifton with the elephant grain, totally correct for 1961.
2x original PAF’s sound totally amazing as you would expect. They have both original windings, lead out wire etc and have had the covers off (for cosmetic reasons) and back on again. All other hardware is original except the tuners which are slightly later, but correct style. There has never been any Grovers on or any holes enlarged or any extra holes drilled.
If you do want to play it I can assure you it will not disappoint. It has a nice action and both original PAF’s are evenly balanced with exceptional clarity and bite. Neck profile is wide and flattish typical mid- late ‘61.
