Gibson / ES-335 TD Wide Nut / 1965 / Cherry Red / Guitar
This is a VERY NICE vintage original 1965 RARE wide 43mm nut Gibson ES-335, finished in desirable cherry red and with original hard case that is all original except it has had a Bigsby fitted at one stage so there are the usual two small, snake bite filled holes on the top, only one of which is visible as the tailpiece covers the other (see photos).
Everything else is all original including the wonderful pickups and all electrics. This is a very rare, early trapeze verion with the full nut width only made in early 1965. It plays beautifully, sounds like cream and has a very nice, playable, fast action.
There are no breaks or repairs anywhere and all finish is original too. This is basically the same neck and feel as a ’64 stop tail but has the trapeze tail fitted and is around £10k cheaper! All parts are nickle plated, not one piece of chrome in there so again, indicates a very early ’65.
It has been played but not too heavily, there are a few dings here and there but nothing serious. There is also a bit of buckle rash on the back, please see photos for full details.
Original black case with the yellow lining is also in good condition and is fully functioning but the plastic handle has broken at one end which is you know these cases from the mid 60’s this always happens..!
A very nice guitar at a very reasonable price for a 1965.
