Gibson / ES-335 TDC / 1964 / Cherry Red / Guitar
Near MINT, in fact we seem to get a lot of these and this is one of the nicest we have had, full ‘Clapton Spec’ 1964 Gibson ES-335 TDC in gleaming, deep, un faded and vibrant cherry red with no modifications, no issues, no repairs and correct black yellow case. A very cool piece.
This has of course a great medium chunky, 1964 neck profile that a ton of players seem to love - and for very good reason too as it just, feels so right. It has a beautiful, deep grained and hardly worn rosewood fingerboard. All original frets with hardly any wear and completely un-touched electrics with two very strong, 1964 PAT Number stickers pickups that have not even had the covers off. All solder is intact everywhere.
Two main things that prevent me from describing it as MINT. One is a small clearcoat scratch on the front which may even be able to be polished out if it really offends you and a mark on the tip of the headstock where it looks like one of those dreaded clip on tuners, with un sympathetic rubber has been on there for a bit too long (see pictures). Otherwise, aside from a few other, smaller dings, it is a fine gleaming example that stands head and shoulders above the crowd.
The binding is still quite bright white, hardly faded or yellowed, the fingerboard looks almost new and you can almost see your face in the superb condition, nickel hardware!
Plays like a dream, perfect set up and sound and a real exceptional example and serial number wise, within spitting distance of the legendary Clapton ES-335 however, this one however, is in a lot better condition and a lot more original…
